Use Cloptima With Langfuse

7 min readUpdated June 2026

Different Jobs, Same Traffic

Langfuse is a strong tool for tracing, prompt iteration, and general-purpose evaluation while you're building. Cloptima governs and accounts for the spend that traffic creates once it's in production: budgets, guardrail cost policy, response caching, and eval-gated cost optimization tied directly to specific recommendations.

Keep Langfuse For Prompt Engineering

There's no reason to give up trace-level debugging or prompt versioning workflows you already rely on. Cloptima's own prompt and eval registry is scoped narrowly — gating model-downgrade, prompt, and cache-enforce changes — not replacing a general eval workbench.

Forward usage to Cloptima

Route production traffic through Cloptima's gateway (or forward usage from wherever it currently runs) so budgets, guardrail cost governance, and caching apply, while Langfuse keeps handling trace-level debugging and prompt iteration.

# Authorization: Bearer clop_vk_dPXO67p…

Add budgets, guardrails, and caching

Once usage is flowing, set model and provider budgets, enable guardrail detectors with a cost mode, and turn on exact or semantic response cache in observe mode to see savings before enforcing.

Gate cost changes with evals

When a recommendation suggests a model downgrade or prompt change, use Cloptima's release gate to require a passing eval before it ships — informed by the same production traffic you're already debugging in Langfuse.
